June 2017-POPSUGAR Must- Have Box

I love how the POPSUGAR must-have box never ever lets me down. I am mean seriously. I know that I talk about it a lot, but it’s true. There is nothing in the world like getting that pink box in the mail. It’s so special that when it arrives my mail person finally asked me what it was because I always get so happy when I see it. And let me tell you the June 2017 box did not disappoint.

This box should have been nicknamed “Ready for Summer” in 3…2.1!  After opening the box the first thing that I thought about was heading to the beach!  Why you ask? From the palm tree inspired pouches to a good book for setting under an umbrella while getting some Vitamin D (with proper sunscreen of course). To a chilled Starbucks Frappuccio drink and a stash of mini cookies. This box has me wanted to pack my bags and head for the beach. Check out all the items below.

If you like what you see you can get your very own box each month delivered to you door. Just use the special promotion code below.

January 2017 Must- Have box from POPSUGAR

POPSUGAR

Well what can I say? Like always POPSUGAR knocks it out of the park with their monthly subscription box and this month in no different. Okay….I lied it just keeps getting better. I didn’t think that they could out do the holiday season, but POPSUGAR has done what many retailers fail to do after the holidays. KEEP YOUR INTEREST! Yes! I know that it may sound a bit odd. I mean most people don’t want to talk about shopping after the holiday season and they surely don’t have a desire to spend money. Let me explain what I mean. What do you think about after the holidays? If you are like most of us you are talking about renewing yourself, getting healthy, and thinking positive and POPSUGAR to a task that most of us star out with good intentions, but by the end of month have given up and start counting the days to the next “New Year”.

Everything in the January 2017 Box was amazing! Truly. If you join me on Snapchat when I opened the January box you know what I mean. I don’t think that I used the words OMG! OH WOW! and look more when opening up anything. In a way it was better than that Christmas gift that you really didn’t want.

GoldFaden MD- Fresh A Peel Multi-acid Resurfacing Peel: Have you ever started reading about a product and the someone that you know makes a comment like “ That sounds great” and runs off with it. My Mom literally ran off to the bathroom to give it a try and came back glowing. Enough said.

May Design- Desk Calendar & Notecard: How much to do I love this product? So much so that I have it in my writing area area…..we bloggers have deadlines you know.?

Daily Concepts- Your Hair Wrap Towel: It reusable, it helps with flyaways and frizzy harir….Do I need to say more?

Manduka- eQua Mat Towel Playa: Do you have fitness goasl for 2017? If so, you need this in your life. Trust me.

SOURCEBOOKS Inc.- Instant Happy Notes: What a better way to start of the New Year than with some positive thoughts.

Dean & Deulca- Peppermint Loose Leaf Tea: This is the second item that my Mom just grabbed and ran with after I shared it with her. She loves peppermint tea. The two cups that I had were amazing.

*Glade- N3 Free- Coconut and Beach Woods Candle: This was a special gift and I think that POPSUGAR must have secretly known that I am a candle lover. Needless to say this candle was gone within two days….seriously. I even when out and purchased another one.

More post for HUE!

I am back after taking a small break from blogging. Over the last few months I’ve had A LOT going on (in a good way) that I feel will help me grow this blog in ways that I couldn’t imagined just a few years ago. Yes, I have been  M.I.A. in blogging land, but I have been front and center in the world of social media. My time in the social media universe has opened the flood gates in regards to growing my media voice. I have always wanted this blog to be a celebration of  black women, their style, beauty, and life. In the last few months so many things have happened in world in the black community that reminds me that we still need diversity in training in the world and more now than ever I feel that as a black woman I need to be apart of a movement that showcases positive images of black women. So I will be adding to this blog in great ways.  Mondays with now focus on the image of black women in the media. You may ask why?….uummm because people still think that it is okay to talk about a black woman’s hair

as if she is less than a human….No it wasn’t funny (not even a little bit)- I am a naturalista, and I have never ever come close to using weed….not cool to suggest such things. Also, while while watching the red carpet during award season I saw very few women on color. I mean come on…how many television networks do we have? And no station can find a woman of color with a fashion degree and media experience?  But it is more than fashion or red carpets. Let’s talk about other forms of media….film, television, print, and other forms of media. Why aren’t we seeing more women (and men) of color? I maybe only person but, I will use my voice and this platform to share what main stream media is not. I will speak out, speak up, and speak of positive things that black women are doing.SpeakOut-logo2-darker

….and don’t even get me started on the Oklahoma University issue because I can go on and on about that…so I have something too.

There are many other issues that I will address in later blog post but for now I will be adding a media and educational/lifestyle to this blog in addition to the True Beauty Tuesday, Web Window Shopping post.

With love from me to Hue,

Sophia

All tied up

As a  consultant and  media professional in the fashion and lifestyle industry I get the great blessing of reviewing products from time to time. That is what happened this Summer. I had the unique pleasure of being gifted a dress from designer Von Vonni. Vonni, has dressed some notable names such as model and Real Housewife of Atlanta Cynthia Bailey and athletic great, Serena Williams. So as you can imagine this little girl from Virginia was extremely honored that I had been honored with such a gift.

Known for his “Transformer” dress which is a concept that he developed while studying at F.I.T. Vonni’s dress design offers up several looks  in one dress. …so many that I had an extremely hard time deciding what look that I wanted to wear for the event I was attending. A creative spirit like myself had a great time time tying the dress up down and all around for the event I was going to.

I couldn’t resist snapping this shadow picture of the Von Vonni dress. You know it’s a great dress when even the shadow looks amazing.

I had the great opportunity to attend the 2nd Annual Pink Queen’s for Life pageant which is a fundraiser pageant for Breast Cancer Awareness.  I couldn’t have been more pleased with the dress because it seemed like Divine intervention that the team from Vonni sent me a beautiful dress in a “Dusty Rose” color. As you can imagine I was pleased to have a pink dress to wear in support of the event.

I received a free dress from  Von vonni for use in connection with this blog.

Reflections of Hue

A little over a week ago this blog celebrated it’s blog anniversary (August 29th). It is amazing how quickly a year can go by. I am grateful beyond words for all of the wonderful opportunities that have come my way in the last twelve months. To truly reflect I decided to step away from writing, media, blogging for a bit to make sure that I am staying true to my mission and vision for A Stylish Hue.

My hope in creating A Stylish Hue  was to celebrate Healthy Unique Diverse Empowering images of women of color in a way that I could combine by background in fashion and media. Over the past year I have had the unique honor of connecting with other bloggers, fashion designers, fitness organization, book publishing companies, and PR companies. Not to mention that I have been honored with blogging awards. Wow! I really just wanted to showcase positive images of women of color and offer resources that would help them to be empowered to thrive and live their best life. With each day that passes I am filled with gratitude beyond words to each and everyone of hue for joining me on this journey.

With love from me to hue,

Sophia
