Happy Monday everyone! I normally don’t make post on Monday, but I wanted to take a quick moment to share all the wonderful things that are coming down the pike for A Stylish Hue. The last few weeks have truly been a full of excitement. Here’s a brief recap and a sneak peek of what’s to come.
- I had the chance to partner with some great stylish bloggers for my first link party (which I loved)

- I was recognized as one of the Tuesday’s top 10 of the week by RVA fashion bloggers.
Tuesdays Top 10: Week 23 on June 18, 2013 I was selected as on of the Top 10 by Richmond VA Fashion Bloggers (RVAFB)
While all of these things are a true blessing I am just as excited about what’s up next. I have been in contact with a New York City publishing company and will be reviewing several books for them. I will also be working with a New York based designer making a guest blog post.

With love from me to hue,
While researching topics for my post this week for Fashionably Fit Friday I saw a post on my Facebook from someone I know who was talking about her barre class and I instantly remembered a spot on a T.V. this past Spring that I worked out that talked about Barre fitness. Now there are several people and organizations promoting some form of Barre, but after viewing some of the videos my first thought was how can you do this with traditional sneakers….well the answer is that its very hard if not nearly impossible. Which sent me on an internet search for of “barre footwear and/or shoes” and well I didn’t find anything that grabbed my attention like the collection from Nike. Talk about raising the bar! Pun intended…because they’ve earned it in my opinion.
The ever present swoosh promotes a lightweight flexibility that offers a fitness pro the feeling of being footloose and fancy free while performing fitness activities such as yoga, dance, or barre with customized support and protection. And as an added benefit each studio wrap pack includes a mesh garment bag. Available in four unique styles you are sure to find something that fits your fashionable fitness flavor.
With this collection Nike really does offer style that is above the bar because I have never taken a Barre class, but now I feel the need to and I can get some really fashionable footwear too!

So you are ready to start your workout plan…. You’ve your shoes, apparel, iPod, and accessories… you have everything you need right? Wait do you have the support that you need? You know… support? No, I’m not talking about your family and friends (although that is important) I am talking about the other support… you know…for your “girls”.
Contrary to belief every cup size needs adequate support and this is where style truly comes into play. The style of will determine the type of support that you need.
For example walking or yoga will require a low-impact sports bra while a brisk hike will require medium-impact support. If you are a runner or doing high level aerobics then you will require high-impact support.
Some basic things to keep in mind when shopping for a sports bra:
- The wider the band on the foundation of the bra the better the support
- Wicking fabrics help remove moisture from the skin
- Wider straps provide better support
I have personally have fallen in love with the Women’s Armour Bra because they not only make stylish pieces, they have color coded the cup sizes, added special material to decrease chaffing, and they provide a neat video on their site describing the mechanics of the bra.
Take a peek at the video below.
